Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 3 & Tannhäuser Overture
DUPO’s Epiphany concert in Durham Cathedral saw them tackle a programme of virtuosity and grandeur with a program of Rachmaninoff, Wagner, Delius and Marquez.
Henry Hiscock starred as soloist in Rachmaninoff’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 3, widely considered as the one of the most difficult pieces in all of piano repertoire.
The second half of the concert saw Barney Howard conduct Wagner’s grandiose Tannhäuser Overture, Delius’ 3 Tone Poems, and a finale filled with flair with Marquez’s Danzon No. 2
