A now yearly outreach project for the Orchestra, DUPO visited HMP Durham to perform selections of repertoire. This past year saw us perform Delius’ 3 Tone Poems, and selections from Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 as we prepared for our concert in Durham Cathedral. After performing, we held a Q&A to answer all questions about the orchestra and all our instruments, and we had some encouraging words of wisdom from the staff and inmates about choosing the right path and making the most of our talent. The whole experience gave the orchestra valuable insight and a great opportunity to perform and introduce classical music to those who had not had the opportunity before.
