Join DUPO for their season finale as they perform a programme including Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.
The concert sees the 2 DUPO orchestras join forces, with Timothy Tsang conducting the Palatinate Ensemble and Anthony Sutch conducting the Symphony Orchestra in what promises to be a grandiose ending to the season.
The Palatinate Ensemble performs two works in the first half our concert, with and arrangement of Balakirev’s Islamay and Grieg’s Holberg Suite.
The Symphony Orchestra opens their performance with Gershwin’s exuberant and energetic Rhapsody in Blue, with Benjamin Houchin starring as soloist. A more calming and lyrical interlude follows with Khachaturian’s beautiful Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia before the concert’s explosive finale of Wagner’s Prelude to Act III of Lohengrin and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture concludes DUPO’s 2025/26 season.
