Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 6 "Pathetique"

Durham University Palatinate Orchestra’s 90-piece Symphony Orchestra plays Tchaikovsky’s Sixth Symphony, his Pathétique Symphony, and music by Elgar and Pejačević in Durham Cathedral. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 in B minor, the so-called ‘Pathétique Symphony’, premiered 9 days before his death and is a work of profound emotional intensity. It is a programme symphony; however, its narrative is a mystery, and Tchaikovsky provokes listeners to guess the story themselves with some hearing themes of love, fate, tragedy, and despair.
